Many areas of Colorado's Front Range have been hit with severe hail storms this past month. Luckily, my garden has only had to cope with the endless, drying winds. Here are a few highlights of what's blooming right now --- my favorites that are tough and reliable, regardless of the crazy weather:
|
Dalea purpureum, purple prairie clover |
|
Glaucium flavum, horned poppy |
|
Nymphaea spp, hardy waterlily |
|
Callirhoe involucrata, poppy mallow |
|
Echinops ritro, globe thistle |
|
Penstemon pinefolius 'Mersea Yellow', yellow pine-leaf penstemon |

Your blooms certainly are "art" in the garden :) Thanks for sharing!
Those first two are stunning! What a great contrast between bloom and foliage.
Thanks for stopping by, Rebecca.
Amy, the Dalea is my favorite prairie plant.
Sorry for the blurry photos today, folks --- it's been so darn windy here it's difficult get good shots...
I love the Dalea too, having first fell in love with it at the Denver Bot. Garden.
We were hoping to get to Co. this summer, but waited too long to make a plan and the airfare is too expensive. Oh well, perhaps next year.
This thistle flower is beautiful. Its perfect for landscaping and gardening works.
