Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day 3.15.2011

March brings flowers back to my garden and boy, are they a sight for sore eyes!
The few and the precious:
Crocus -  white as snow, but more welcome this time of year!
Iris danfordiae - this little gem is about 2" tall x 21/2"wide

silver maple (Acer saccharinum) - a visitor from the neighbor's yard
What's blooming in your garden today? I'll bet you've got me beat...
Please be sure to visit Carol at May Dreams Gardens to discover what's blooming in other gardens around the world!

....You can no longer quiet me with the redness
Of little leaves opening stickily.
I know what I know.
The sun is hot on my neck as I observe
The spikes of the crocus.
The smell of the earth is good.
It is apparent that there is no death...

Ahhh, such a beautiful little white crocus! And yes, soooo much more welcome than the snow.

How nice your crocuses are - seeing all the daffodils in bloom yesterday throughout Abq, and every early tree ready to pop or flowering, is welcome. This post shows how such plants deserve wider, more effective use in the overall landscape.

(well, not the maple down here - but yet a flower!)

The early flowering iris is also one I keep forgetting about the availability and use of in my designs.

How fun to have so many gardening friends stop by today - thank you all!

Lovely poem, PK.

David, I don't recommend silver maples (too many problems) but they are a big part of the urban canopy here and always shout "Spring!" first.
