The Calendar Says…

We’re almost a full month into autumn now, but my potted summer annuals and tropicals are still going strong. Although we’ve had several nights of hard frost lately, even my impatiens---which usually melt into a disgusting mess with just a cold stare---are still going strong.

This view from my patio chair shows that we still have a ways to go before it truly looks like fall. And that’s very OK with me!

I'm really surprised that your summer annuals are doing so well. I spoke to my Daughter-in-law in Denver and she said she cleaned hers out around the 10th. Maybe she was too early!

BTW--great profile photo.

Aiyana, gardeners in the city of Denver may certainly have lost their annuals and other tender crops earlier in the month. I live in a small city called Wheat Ridge(an inner ring suburb, really)immediately west of Denver that has a slightly higher elevation. We're often a bit cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Perfect!

PS--glad you like the photo. My daughter took it just last week; publisher mandated for my book jacket!
