A Wet October Day

Finally, we are getting a long, soaking rain! It will do wonders for our plants as we head into winter. The moisture intensifies the beautiful foliage colors of the Autumn Purple ash (Fraxinus Americana ‘Autumn Purple’) and the prairie grasses beyond it.

That's a pretty autumn scene. I love your boulders too. Did you place those, or were they already there?

Fabulous photo Jocelyn!! The colors, the light... wow! I was particularly glad to see the Autumn Purple Ash because our local paper had an article about this tree and I'd sure like to have one.

Pam, we brought the boulders in as part of the pond building project in 1990. They're a mix of sandstone and granite, both local.

Bev, I like these ash because they are relatively small--great for urban landscapes!

Thanks for visiting!

Lostroses, glad you could get a color fix here! Our long, warm Autumn has been a delight. Now that we've had our first hard freeze I'm looking forward to a long Indian Summer as well!

Ewa, thank you for your kind words. I hope you'll visit again soon.
